MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS secured second place in the 2013 FIA Formula One Constructors’ Championship in the final race of the season.
Nico Rosberg’s fifth place finish along with Lewis Hamilton’s ninth was the 14th double points finish of the season for the Silver Arrows, which claimed second in the Constructors’ Championship at the famous Interlagos circuit, with a six point advantage over rivals Ferrari.
Lewis finished 2013 in fourth place in the Formula One Drivers’ Championship, with Nico sixth. It was a strong season for the Brackley team, with a total of three race wins, nine podiums, eight pole positions and three front-row lock-outs.
Lewis said: “Congratulations to the team today for achieving second place in the Constructors’ Championship. That result means so much to everyone and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it this year.”
The first race of the 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship is the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on 13–16 March, marking the introduction of the new V6 turbocharged engine era.
