The Formula One Constructor’s Championship title may have been claimed by Red Bull Racing at the Indian Grand Prix, but it’s the battle for second place that has everyone excited.
Nico Rosberg’s second place podium finish behind newly crowned four time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, alongside Lewis Hamilton’s sixth place, helped Mercedes to overtake Ferrari in the Constructor’s Championship in New Delhi.
“I’m quite confident that we can keep that position until the end of the season as the team is doing a great job and our car looks great, but it will be a fight” said Rosberg.
Hamilton is already looking to next year with his sights set on challenging Vettel’s dominance in the World Championship. He said: “Massive congratulations to Seb on an awesome achievement, he’s put in some incredible performances this season. I really hope we get to take the fight to him next year!”
The team knows they cannot relax with only four points separating Mercedes and Ferrari in the constructor’s battle and three races still to go, 129 points available.
The next race in the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Yas Marina on 1-3 November.
