#Untamed Mercedes-Benz CLA Campaign
Fans of Mercedes-Benz and the motoring industry in general will likely have heard of #Untamed, the manufacturer’s new multi-media advertising campaign. It highlights the rebellious style of the new CLA model, whilst providing a platform for web-savvy photographers to display their work.
Mercedes-Benz has already launched a TV commercial entitled ‘Wolf’, in which tantalising glimpses of the CLA’s unbridled power and unconventional looks are offered to stir up the world’s enthusiasm. The three turbocharged engines promise to match the hype, as a maximum output of 208bhp offers fearsome pace, whether on short sprints or longer motorway marathons.
One could never accuse Mercedes-Benz of being regressive, and the forward-thinking nature of the brand is clear in their innovative and artistic online campaign. From February 2013, users of the photo-sharing platform Instagram can upload alternative and creative images from their personal photo streams to www.untamed-installation.com, where they can browse their work alongside other submissions. The aim is to produce a montage of original creativity – a platform from which keen photographers can showcase the work that they consider unique to a global audience. The photos will be digitally reworked and users can share the finished product with their friends online, and the final photo installation will be presented before an international audience in Paris.
The scheme echoes the sentiments of the CLA’s designers – that sometimes the best styles break with convention. The CLA itself is deliberately alternative, having been described as a ‘style rebel’, but its avant-garde exterior is unfailingly attractive, with powerdomes across the bonnet and a black piano-lacquer display screen finish within.
Mercedes-Benz says: “…the new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class stands out as an unmistakable style rebel. With its breathtakingly sporty proportions and powerful, dynamic design – this progressive new model brings the avant-garde Concept Style Coupé to life.” There’s no doubt that the manufacturer has provided a platform from which alternative artists can display their work, and from which the CLA-Class can enjoy a hugely successful year.
