The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class range – diesels, hybrids, and even a convertible
When the latest version of the C-Class arrives, Mercedes-Benz is planning to enhance the range with a cluster of new models. The line-up is set to include a convertible from launch in 2014 – perfect for the changeable British weather.
The current C-Class is offered as a saloon and a coupé, and is solely powered by petrol engines. This will change with the introduction of both diesel and hybrid power systems. By expanding the range in this way, Mercedes-Benz is aiming to compete more aggressively with their rivals in the UK market. The car’s main opponents are already available in a wide range of different body styles.
For the updated saloon version, a higher standard level of equipment is expected – and the new, subtly enhanced design is hotly anticipated. As the new CLA will be taking the entry-level position in the Mercedes-Benz roster, there’s been no need to scale down the features on the C-Class. The convertible is scheduled for a 2015 launch, shortly followed by the release of the new engines for the entire C-Class range.
With the latest hybrid technology, the manufacturer is continuing its developments in ‘greener’, more economical driving. The high-performance AMG division will also be focusing on improving the efficiency and clean drive of every model. Any luxury Mercedes-Benz that can claim a higher level of fuel economy is guaranteed to be more attractive to UK drivers.
