One of the stars at this year’s Paris Motor Show (October 4 to 19) is the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT.
The very first Mercedes was a racing car and true to our heritage the GT embodies the spirit of the company’s glorious past with its stunning looks and amazing performance.
The two-seater comes in two variants, the 462hp GT and the 510hp GT S; the latter can accelerate from rest to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 193mph.
Fast and beautiful, the GT is also practical for everyday motoring, with easy access to the luggage compartment providing 350 litres of space. Driver comfort on long journeys is assured by extensive Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive assistance systems.
The centrepiece of the Coupé is its hand-built 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, codenamed M178 and developed specifically for the GT. Other innovative features include a lightweight aluminium chassis structure and a rear wing that deploys automatically to improve the aerodynamics.
The GT’s technology, refinement and agility set new standards in the sports car segment, even though it is only the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. The brand is enjoying increasing success in the UK. Last year a record 3,127 AMG cars were registered, up 40 per cent on 2012.
The AMG GT S goes on sale in April 2015, with the AMG GT following in August. Prices are expected to be announced in October.
