In a race that marked the new era in Formula 1, Nico Rosberg showed the new rookies how it’s done by claiming the first victory of the season with a 24 second gap to his closest rival.
Teammate Lewis Hamilton gave it his all during a wet qualifying in Melbourne, but was forced to retire early on during the race, as the new V6 cars put every one of the teams to the test.
Following the race, Nico explained the joy of his win: “I always dreamed of having such a strong Silver Arrow and now it seems we are there. In the race, everything went perfectly for me. We saw over the weekend that reliability is still a concern but we have two weeks to improve that.”
Race two of the Formula One season is the Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit on 28-30 March.
