Mercedes-Benz has unveiled new models in no less than five vehicle classes at this year’s Paris Motor Show.

The lean and mean Mercedes-AMG GT was perhaps the most eye-catching of the cars on display. Powered by a newly developed V8 biturbo engine, it takes Mercedes-Benz into the top-flight sports car market for the first time.

Supporting the company’s push into this segment is the Mercedes-AMG C 63, the new top model in the C-Class. It is the world’s most fuel-efficient V8 car and is significantly more efficient than less powerful competitors with six-cylinder engines.

Another model that made its debut in the ‘dream car’ category at the show is the S 65 AMG coupé, the new 12-cylinder is the star of the S-Class range.

Making its entrance in the French capital was the new generation of the B-Class. This bestseller in the premium sports tourer segment underwent an extensive facelift and was substantially upgraded both inside and out. There was also a new battery-driven version.

Sustainability is a key feature of the new Mercedes-Benz S 500 Plug-in Hybrid. This highly efficient luxury saloon combines the performance of a V8 with the fuel consumption of a compact model. By 2017, nine more Mercedes models will be launched with same eco-friendly drive technology.

Completing the line-up on the Mercedes stand in Paris was the new smart fortwo and smart forfour city cars, equipped with modern three-cylinder engines that comply with the Euro 6 standard.

The Mercedes-Benz stand truly was the shining star of the Paris Motor Show which ran from the 4-19 October 2014, and was attended by an estimated 1.2 million visitors.
