New Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is creating a brand new segment, combining class-leading aerodynamics, avant-garde coupe design and optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The model brings the Concept Style Coupé into series production and is available to order now, being delivered to dealers in April.

The brand new model retains the sporty design and performance synonymous with Mercedes-Benz and is available with high-torque turbo engines rated at up to 211bhp, sports suspension and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Various driver assistance systems also feature, including the advanced COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, a radar-based system that provides acoustic and visual warnings of identified obstacles to potentially distracted drivers. Brake Assist is then prepared for precision braking and deploys as soon as the driver steps emphatically on the brake pedal. The exact brake force needed is calculated by COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, helping motorists to avoid serious collisions.

Visually, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is breath-taking, with powerful proportions and dynamic lines. The front end is characterised by a sleek bonnet with powerdomes and a diamond grille. The LED headlamps create a ‘flare effect’ for the daytime driving lights and indicators, defining the model’s energetic look. The sporty appearance continues into the cabin with its metallic finish, black piano-lacquer-look freestanding display and optional coloured contrasting stitching on the seats.

The aerodynamic design of the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class results in low fuel consumption. A low A-pillar shoulder, optimised exterior mirrors and wheel trims designed for low drag are all incorporated to ensure maximum efficiency. All petrol engine variants and the top diesel unit meet the forthcoming Euro 6 emissions standards, with the 2.2-litre CLA 220 CDI offering 170bhp with 350 Nm of torque and producing just 109g/km of CO2. All engines also feature ECO start/stop as standard.

There’s plenty of innovative technology for drivers of the new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class to enjoy. iPhone integration is featured thanks to Daimler’s Digital Drive Style app concept combined with the Driver Kit Plus for the iPhone®. Siri voice control and Glympse real-time location sharing functionality is also included. In addition, Garmin navigation and real-time traffic information is available.

The CLA-Class made its debut appearance on the eve of the NAIAS in Detroit and was officially unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin between 15-18 January. Five lines and packages are available from launch, with first deliveries arriving in April. Order books are open now.
