Following the successful launch of the revolutionary Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the A 45 AMG is set to take the UK by storm this summer.
With the introduction of the A 45 AMG, drivers and fans of hot hatchbacks will finally have the chance to experience Mercedes-Benz’s famous Driving Performance in a compact production car.
Based on AMG’s decades of experience in motorsport and high-performance premium cars, the A 45 unsurprisingly has speed written into its DNA. Marking the brand’s first foray into the compact class, the car boasts some impressive stats.
Lying under the bonnet is the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo unit producing no less than 360hp and up to 450Nm of torque. Even more remarkable is the vehicle’s unrivalled 181hp per-litre power density, with the A 45 even surpassing some of the most powerful sports cars on this front.
Such figures mean that the A 45 AMG is able to accelerate from zero to 62mph in 4.6 seconds, and can reach an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. As well as this, it tops the compact vehicle class in terms of fuel efficiency, with just 40.9mpg in NEDC combined mode.
“With the new A 45 AMG we have well and truly achieved our aim of developing the most dynamic, powerful and efficient four-cylinder series production car,” commented Tobias Moers, Head of Overall Vehicle Development and Board Member of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “With its impressive high-tech package and the performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the A 45 AMG is a thoroughbred AMG through and through.”
“The A 45 AMG will enable Mercedes-AMG to appeal to new customers and tap new markets,” added Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “We are adding an extremely attractive model with exceptional performance to our range of unique high-performance automobiles.”
The new A 45 AMG will arrive at Mercedes-Benz Retail Group dealerships in the coming week. Contact your local dealer for further information, and to book a test drive.
