At the end of April 2013, the Augusta National Golf Club of America announced a new worldwide partnership with Mercedes-Benz – making the manufacturer a Global Sponsor of the Masters from 2014 onwards.

The brand has already been the International Partner of the tournament since 2008 with involvement for ten years prior, and has a long history of association with golf. As a result of their collaboration with the PGA of America, Mercedes-Benz models have been the official vehicles of the PGA Championship and Senior PGA Championship for several years. For the American PGA competition, Mercedes-Benz is also their Official Patron.

Many of the high-profile golfing tournaments that the manufacturer is involved with take place in North America: the Northern Trust Open, World Challenge, and the AT&T National are just a few. The brand has also given its name to the Mercedes Championship, which is held in Kapalua, Hawaii.

The three Mercedes-Benz principles of ‘precision, perfection and sporting prowess’ translate perfectly into the world of golf, making the brand and the sport ideal partners.

In 2011, the manufacturer increased their golf-related activities through a new partnership with the Open, as well as holding local tournaments with the support of dealerships. More than 65,000 players from around 60 countries compete in the amateur Mercedes Trophy tournament every year. Entry fees for both this event and the Mercedes-Benz Dealer Golf Championship are donated to charities.

2013 marks two decades of involvement with golfing tournaments and associations for Mercedes-Benz. This anniversary year is being celebrated with some exclusive events, including a special presentation in honour of their global golf ambassador Bernhard Langer.
