The Rolling Stones had five members, the best hotels boast five stars and now Mercedes-Benz has added a fifth SUV to its range, since the original G-Class appeared in 1979. So what can we expect from this fifth member?
Consumers are more demanding these days in what they expect from a car. Some go for efficiency, some comfort and others enjoy having some extra horsepower under their right foot. It appears there is now an answer that meets all those requirements, welcome the GLA.
The battle between design and technology can sometimes result in an ugly outcome but there seems to be perfect harmony on this occasion. Naturally, this new generation Mercedes-Benz is equipped with all the latest gadgetry to satisfy the inner-geek: for those who are really nerdy, Siri is built into the headlights.
When you’ve finished playing with all the buttons you’ll be itching to take it for a spin. The GLA is well equipped to give you a very enjoyable ride, whether you’re blasting up the motorway at a legal 70mph, or you’re navigating the winding roads of the Peak District.
Then you start to look at the styling of the car, somewhat reminiscent of the new A-Class, and you find yourself wanting to take it on the school run. Popping to the shops. Weekend adventures. Whatever to get back behind the wheel of this exciting addition.
No doubt we’ll have more to say after its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, but for now take a look at the Mercedes-Benz GLA album on our Facebook page. We can’t wait to get the newest member of the Mercedes-Benz family in our showrooms.
