MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS lit up the night in Singapore with a double points finish keeping them within touching distance of Ferrari, who currently sit second in the F1 Constructor’s Championship, with only seven points difference between the two teams.
It wasn’t only Mercedes powered Formula One cars on track. As expected, there was a brief safety car period following a crash by Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo, allowing the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG to take centre stage.
Rosberg narrowly missed out on a podium finish with a forth, while Hamilton finished behind his team-mate in fifth.
Following the race, Hamilton commented: “It was a really tough race, probably the most physically demanding of the year. We tried our best and the car felt good, but unfortunately we paid the price for not qualifying further ahead. We’ll come back stronger, aim to get back ahead of Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship and see if we can get another win before the end of the season.”
The next round of the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship is the Korean Grand Prix on 4-6 October.
