Many people enjoy collecting and they will often attend auctions in the hope of gathering new additions for their collections of stamps, art, dolls, porcelain pigs… For some people though, collecting is a more serious (and, due to their love of the automobile, a more expensive endeavour). Such collectors, or simply admirers of beautiful cars, will be pleased to learn that the famous British auctioneers Bonhams offered for sale a choice selection of some forty vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz over the course of its history.
The auction was staged at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, last week (12 July), and visitors had an opportunity to explore in detail the story of our revolutionary style and technical innovations, as well as the potential to become the owner of a limited number of privately owned classics.
Ranging from a Ferbedo Mercedes-Benz pedal car which sold for £2,726 all the way through to the 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500 K/540 K Spezial Roadster which fetched a whopping £2,453,881.00 the auction was deemed a success with many beautiful classical vehicles being sold.
