It’s going to be a tight fought battle for second place in the Formula One Constructor’s Championship with only four races remaining and ten points separating Ferrari and Mercedes AMG Petronas following the Japanese Grand Prix.
It was a challenging race for Mercedes at the Suzuka circuit after Lewis Hamilton retired from the race for the first time this season following contact with Sebastian Vettel at the start of the race.
Nico Rosberg made sure the team were still in the points, finishing the race in 8th position following battles with McLaren’s Sergio Perez and the Sauber of Esteban Gutierrez.
Team Principal Ross Brawn explained that despite a tough weekend, the Constructor’s Championship battle is far from over. He said: “The team has worked extremely hard and I still believe we have the potential to finish the season in second place in the Constructor’s Championship but we have to use the potential of the car to the full in the four remaining races.”
The next race in the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship is the Indian Grand Prix in New Delhi on 25-27 October.
