Sneak peek into the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cabin
In advance of the 2014 launch of the updated S-Class, Mercedes-Benz has released some exciting and gorgeous images of the car’s interior.
The cabin has the instantly recognisable Mercedes-Benz aura that fans will have no trouble identifying. The premium materials and luxury of the model are visible throughout the latest pictures – it looks roomier and more comfortable than its predecessors.
A new dashboard design is the highlight of the front section, accented beautifully by ambient lights. The instrument panel has been lined with soft-touch leather, populated with solid aluminium controls and completed in natural wood. Two 12.3-inch high resolution screens have taken the place of the traditional dials in the previous S-Class, acting as the displays for the infotainment systems. COMAND Online takes centre stage within the car, and it uses a new Intel Atom processor that’s almost identical to the one found in laptops.
For the utmost convenience and easy access to all of the car’s many functions, no less than 156 buttons and switches have been placed around the inside. Some are mounted on the steering wheel and in the driver’s door, a further 15 are placed on the central console, and there are even three on the rear view mirror.
The ‘active perfuming system’ in the cabin is a first for the saloon – it ionises the air to clean it, and then gently uses a perfume atomiser to create a light scent. As the interior is being created on the long wheelbase version of the S-Class, Mercedes-Benz is also offering optional reclining rear seats, a massage system with 14 supportive air cushions in the backrest and active seat ventilation.
As a result, the new car will feature optional reclining rear seats that offer up to 43.5 degrees of back rest adjustment, a new massage system with 14 air cushions in the backrest offering six different programmes, a so-called warmth package with door panels, and active seat ventilation in which the rotational direction of the fans used to blow cooling air through the seat can be reversed for added comfort.
The current Mercedes-Benz S-Class is available from Mercedes-Benz Retail Group dealerships nationwide now – and we’ll have all of the latest information on the 2014 version when it arrives. Get in touch with us at your closest showroom to find out more.
